outsourcing works, so india is exporting jobs

i went to see a film called outsourced last night and today i read this article on nytimes.com. it's just kind of ironic that we outsourced jobs to india, and now they are outsourcing jobs as well.

some other films i've watched recently:

pan's labyrinth

marie antoinette

funny ha ha

stephanie daley

pride and prejudice (the british mini-series)

hollywoodland

the black dahlia

dark days

the hottest state

inside deep throat
very interesting. a look at the porn industry before it was the "porn industry," and the government when obscenity was a huge problem and how reagan finished the job in the eighties. it's worth a watch.

away from her
loved it. it made me cry, it made me happy, it made me never want to lose a loved one to alzheimer's or dementia. sarah polley did a beautiful job executing her first film. she is a natural talent and has worked with the best. i look forward to seeing her next project.

amores perros
amazing. i'm not sure exactly what else to say. heavy, moving, heartbreaking. i don't know why it took me so long to watch it. it should have happened years ago.

the ice storm
ang lee's portrayal of rick moody's novel is perfect to a tee in my book. it's such a depressing story, yet somehow everyone can connect to the families, because their family is exactly the same. i throughly enjoyed the book, and i was still impressed after re-watching the film. sometimes they get it wrong, but not this time. i love both.

this weekend is the austin city limits festival here. i just watched bjork play and i'm on cloud nine. i also have surprise visitors in from charleston. one of my best friends, wil and his roommate lucas. i'm as happy as a clam. i'm pooped though. and tomorrow is another day in the sun.

another one of my best friends, dirty joel, launched his websites today. please, go visit, look at the photos, purchase something, support a good cause! they are:

i'm reed fish
i love films that are "coming of age" stories. this one is funny, cute, and has a great soundtrack. plus, i love jay baruchel.

billy liar
this film was fantastic. i'm going to have to research movies films that come from the british "new wave."

borat
it has its moments, but much better as a 3-5 minute clip during the da ali g show.

x-men: the final stand
leave it to hbo to suck me into this one. i actually like it too. now, i wish i had seen the second one.

accepted
another one that was on hbo. nothing beats free hbo, you get to watch all the movies you never want to pay to see. this one had its hilarious moments. jonah hill is going to make it big in the world of comedy. he is a gem.

i upped my netflix plan today. i'm excited.

i was also very sneezy today, which means one thing in the world of someone without allergies; i'm getting sick.

clerks II
another bean of hilarity from kevin smith, but not my favorite.

miss potter
i really liked this film. peter rabbit was one of my favorite books as a child. i also have a weakness for period pieces, especially british ones.

the hawk is dying
i'm still thinking about this one. very well acted by paul giamatti and michelle williams. a lot deeper than i thought it was going to be.

cocaine cowboys
i absolutely was baffled by this film. i love when i see a film where i just know the tip of the iceberg about the situation, and the film just blows it open for me. i had no idea about the depth of the medellin cartel in miami in the eighties, and the amount of money they made. it blew my mind.

i've downloaded the new rilo kiley album, under the blacklight and i can't stop listening.

i'm ready for ACL.
