this weekend was an excellent and perfect one. friday was nicole's birthday. i have known her for exactly three years. we met at a house party on her 21st birthday, and i proudly call her one of my closest friends now. i love how that works out. i made her these delicious fudge-y brownie bombs from scratch and a mix cd. the best presents are handmade, right? to celebrate a few of us went to dinner then headed to the east side to meet up with everyone else and hang out. i'm completely in love with the bars on the east sixth (rio rita, the good knight & shangri la). shangri la is quickly climbing my favorites list. it was a fun and sober night for me. lately, i've been enjoying the fruits of not drinking. it's good for the pocket book and the memory. just get me a coke and i'm a happy camper these days.
saturday was really low key. an old wilmington friend of amory's recently moved to town with his lady and they had a some folks over for drinks and conversation on their back porch. it was the perfect way to spend a warm saturday afternoon. they inspired me to have folks over to our place. we still haven't formally had a party. fourth of july was an attempt at a party that never materialized properly. now, i'm thinking a "i'm going back to work FINALLY" party.
today, was the typical sunday. i watched the kiddos this morning. we had 17 kids during the first service at church. CRAZY! then i met up with some friends at jo's for coffee and tunes. adrienne's doggie got spooked and ran under a truck parked on the street and all our hearts were in our throats for a hot second. then i conqured the task of making pizza dough from scratch and creating these "pizza pouches." delicious.
a very good weekend in my book.
